2012’s Dishonored was a textbook example of how to kickstart a new franchise; no superfluous multiplayer and relatively little fanfare, just an admirably focused and tightly designed stealth title with a beautifully designed world.
Good news for fans, then - NowGamer is reporting that a sequel is in the works at Arkane Studios, with the original’s co-creator Harvey Smith leading the development team.
NowGamer claim that ”a source with knowledge regarding the game’s development” has revealed that Smith, who laid the groundwork for the first game along with Raphael Colontonio, is heading the Dishonored 2 project. And here I must place a little MINOR SPOILER WARNING
The report suggests that this time we’ll be playing as Emily Kaldwin, main character Corvo’s charge from the first game. That would naturally suggest that the game is set some way in the future of the Dishonored universe.
And yet! NowGamer do also say that this information is based on discussions that were happening around 12 months ago, so we can’t verify any of this information with any confidence.
In other news, an anonymous tipster sent an email to VG247 claiming that the sequel’s full title would be Dishonored 2: Darkness Of Tyvia, and offering the image below as proof. Apparently the tipster claimed that the game would be coming to PC and consoles in November 2015. VG247 was unsurprisingly dubious, and reached out to franschise publisher Bethesda for comment.
No response yet, but we’ll keep you updated with the latest developments. Surely a game as well received critically and publicly as Dishonored will eventually get a sequel, but when will it be?
