Silence: The Whispered World 2 is the sequel to Daedalic’s 2009 point and click adventure The Whispered World. Protagonist Noah (previously known as the clown called Sadwick) returns, but unlike the original, this time you’ll be controlling two characters.
Noah is big and strong, but he’s something of a coward, and might refuse to enter scary, dark places. Luckily his fearless little sister Renie has no such concerns.
”Noah and Renie both have their very own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to solving the games’ puzzles,” explains developer Daedalic. ”At some points during the game, the playable character will be determined by the story – but again and again players will switch freely between Noah and Renie. The solution of many of Silence’ puzzles lies in the cooperation of Noah and Renie. Only when the two siblings work together and use their very specific strengths, they will be able to find their way through the Whispered World.”
Silence: The Whispered World 2 continues the dual-world story of the original game; Noah escaped the fantasy world of Silence, where he’d been adventuring as the clown Sadwick, in the last game, but now he has to return there once again to find his sister, who’s caught up in a war between a group of rebels and an evil queen.
Daedalic says it’s been working on puzzle design and new one-click control system, ”which allows players to understand puzzles and situations more intuitively”. There’s also no inventory system or item-based solutions, so the developer is clearly concentrating on story rather than complex puzzles. Lovely storybook graphics, too.
Silence: The Whispered World 2 is coming to PC and Mac in early 2015.
