Defense Grid 2, the long-awaited sequel to 2008’s tower defense hit, has just received a new trailer showing the latest improvements to the graphics engine as well as some good old fashioned alien-blasting.
It’s certainly a much more polished showing than the previous trailer, released in August last year, with much improved graphics compared to the bland, muddy textures and lighting we saw before. No multiplayer or co-op shown yet, but those are both confirmed so hopefully we’ll find out more soon.
The sequel was originally planned to be crowdfunded, but a failed Kickstarter campaign lead fans to think they might not ever get their hands on it. Fortunately an investor stepped up to front the extra cash developers Hidden Path needed, and now Defense Grid 2 should be hitting PC, Mac and Linux later this year.
