Good news, fans of blasted post-apocalyptic landscapes - Wasteland 2 has finally received an official release date. InXile boss Brian Fargo revealed on Twitter yesterday that the Kickstarter-funded RPG will be available on September 19.
”Official Wasteland 2 release date… September 19th! The 20+ year wait is soon over,” wrote Fargo.
The game was actually expected to hit this month, but was pushed back to give the team more time to create the physical content going out to backers - boxed editions, extra trinkets and so on. It looks like this latest date will be the final one. For real this time.
Wasteland 2 was successfully Kickstarted back in 2012 and intended for release last year, but when inXile made over three times the campaign target they decided to delay the game another year.
I spoke to Brian Fargo recently, and he was adamant that the extra year of development would end up being a good thing for Wasteland 2. We’ll see just what the team has come up with this September.
