Indie developer Zero Point Software has released the latest update to their Steam Early Access sci-fi FPS, Interstellar Marines. The update adds a new map, new game mode Deadlock and a new weapon, the AR 03 Assault Rifle with 4x ACOG scope.
Deadlock is a control point capture mode, with seven points spread across each level. You can win by capturing all of them, or by simply wiping out the opposing team. When a player dies they be respawned by team-mates capturing a control point, by waiting 120 seconds, or by the last team-mate alive netting an enemy kill.
The new AR 03 rifle is ”a highly effective mid-long range weapon which excels at engagements at those ranges”. In addition the game’s CE-6 SMG has been rebalanced to make it more effective in close-quarters.
Fianlly, there’s new map Stronghold. Here’s how Zero Point describe it. ”Stronghold is the first map to include two very distinct play styles and areas. One half of Stronghold is a dense, lush forest, which gradually blends into a tight, claustrophobic urban area which conceals a few surprises for the unwary.”
There’s also the usual mix of balance tweaks and bug fixes. Interstellar Marines is currently available on Steam Early Access for 20% off.
