Paradox and developer Creative Forge Games have announced Ancient Space, a new singleplayer space RTS coming to the PC this Fall. Check out a rather neat trailer with plenty of explosions and dogfights below.
Ancient Space puts players in command of a fleet conducting a scientific mission on the edge of the known universe, an area somewhat forebodingly known as the ‘Black Zone’. Creative Forge promise a ”rich and compelling” story and a bunch of varied strategic missions.
For sci-fi fans the most interesting thing about Ancient Space is probably the impressive voice cast, which is drawn from a number of cult TV shows including; Chief Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica (Aaron Douglas), Doctor Phlox from Star Trek: Enterprise (John Billingsley), Shepherd Book from Firefly /i and Pvt. Dizzy Flores from Starship Troopers /i.
You’ll build up your fleet, upgrading your weapons and crew in order to take on a variety of threats including pirates, aliens and ‘the unknown’. Whatever that is. It’s singleplayer only, too, which is surprising these days. This is Creative Forge’s second project on the boil right now - they’re also running a Kickstarter campaign for the very promising Western-themed turn-based strategy title Hard West.
Look for more on Ancient Space as we head into Autumn.
