And the exodus continues. Crysis 3 and Ryse producer Mike Read has left Crytek, following graphics engine designer Tiago Sousa and Homefront producer Hasit Zala out the door.
The new was first revealed on Read’s LinkedIn page, but he’s also update his Twitter page to reflect his new circumstances. Not a good month for Crytek.
Read hasn’t commented on his decision to leave the German company, but he did reveal that he was unsatisfied with the development of Crysis 3. ”Some amazing tech behind it for sure,” he wrote. ”Wish we could have done more on many fronts.” When quizzed he refused to elaborate. ”Maybe one day soon, but not right now and definitely not in 140 characters or less. To leave it short .. It’s gameplay related.”
A sign perhaps that Crytek’s development process hasn’t been 100% on the money for a while now. Crytek is still yet to respond to reports that staff have not had their wages paid in full, though they have denied that they are at risk of bankruptcy.
One thing’s for sure, the company won’t survive the continual loss of so much talent.
