Prepare your best hacking swords and sharpen your slashing dagger; Beamdog has announced that its dungeon-crawling, remastered Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is on the way this month.
“Oh we also announced a launch date for #IWDEE of Oct 30. That’s right, just 10 more days to go,” Twittered Beamdog boss Trent Oster.
He also confirmed that the game would launch simultaneously on Steam, GOG.com and Beamdog’s own site, with a Linux version out alongside the Windows version. While you wait you can check the video above, courtesy of The Escapist, which offers some handy hints on not dying in Icewind Dale.
As well as the classic Infinity Engine combat they remember, fans of Icewind Dale can expect an improved interface, revised multiplayer, a new difficulty mode (for yellowbellies) that cuts out some of the difficulty to focus on story, and new quests, kits, loot and races.
Yeah, you can get all that with a bit of work and a few mods, but Beamdog did a very competent job with the Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Editions. Perfect for those who want to jump right in, and with several restored quests that were cut from the original release, intriguing for long-time fans too.
