Inspired by (though not really anything to do with) the classic 1982 game Haunted House, Atari’s modern day adventure horror Haunted House: Cryptic Graves is now available on Steam.
We honestly haven’t heard that much about the game since it was announced a few months back, but there’s a launch trailer out which shows off some in-game footage.
The new title swaps the charmingly primitive side-scrolling puzzles of the original for moody, first-person exploration. As medium Anya Graves, you can communicate with restless spirits and craft magical potions, using both to survive the ghost-infested halls of Abaddon Grange.
It’s hard to tell too much from the brief trailer, but darkness + spooky hallways + horrible, paranormal creatures is a well-known recipe for horror game success. We’ll judge how well Cryptic Graves does by how many Youtube videos of people playing it and screaming their heads off emerge post-release.
Cryptic Graves was developed by Dreampainters, the team behind survival-horror game Anna. It’s available now on Steam for £14.99.
