Escape Dead Island, the slightly cel-shaded (it looks a bit like Borderlands) third-person Dead Island spin-off, will be shambling on to PC this November.
The game’s set between the original game and the upcoming sequel, and is intended to link both stories together. That’s right, the Dead Island franchise has a story.
You play Cliff Calo (excellent videogame character name there), an investigator searching for the cause of the zombie outbreak in the island chain of Banoi. It’s a more story-driven experience than its predecessor, but fear ye not - there’s plenty of zombie-splatting to do as well. Escape will continue the series’ penchant for “visceral melee combat set in a beautiful paradise setting”.
Players who pre-order Escape Dead Island will also be given ”guaranteed access” to the upcoming Dead Island 2 beta. No info as to when that’s going to drop, but Escape Dead Island will be released on November 18 in North America and November 21 everywhere else.
