Barcelona fans hoping to see their club’s new Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez in action in FIFA 15 will have to wait until his real-life suspension ends this October 26.
Turns out biting an Italian player live on television at the World Cup has repercussions even in the virtual world.
Suarez famously bit Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini in his side’s last group-stage match, effectively knocking himself and his team out of the competition. Partly due to the high-profile nature of his offense, partly because he’s bitten two other players before, Suarez found himself with a four month ban on absolutely any competitive football action.
Which has been faithfully recreated in the recently released FIFA 15. He’s not in career mode until the 26th, and he’s not available in Ultimate Team mode at all. No word yet on whether the game’s recreated the puncture wounds on Chiellini’s shoulder.
