Yep, that’s right, another Halloween event update. This time it’s for tactical shooter Insurgency, which is getting a free, night-time combat focused addition titled Nightfall.
Wait, it’s just set at night? No zombies or vampires? Well what the hell are you calling it “Halloween-inspired” for, New World Interactive?
Okay, it’s fine, I’m over it. In terms of new goodies, you’ll find a bunch of night-time equipment including night-vision goggles and flare guns, along with a new map, ‘Verticality’, that comes with day and night versions. The update also adds a new game mode.
Survival is a co-op mode that has you and your squad sneaking from safehouse to safehouse, while under fire from a relentless horde of enemy soldiers. Stealth and subtlety are key here, with NWI describing the focus on “scavenging and evasion rather than progressing linearly through a map.”
Finally, Nightfall initiates the first stage of Insurgency’s reworked party system. You can now form a lobby and join a server together with friends, though a planned competitive matchmaking system that allows parties to face off against each other isn’t quite ready yet.
