Developer William Dubé has just released a new trailer for his Kickstarted RPG Jotun, and it’s looking very nice indeed. In it we meet the Storm Jotun Hagalaz, one of the game’s bosses.
Successfully funded to the tune $64,265 CAD last year, Jotun is a beautifully hand-drawn blend of Norse myth-inspired exploration and combat. It casts players as a warrior named Thora, who is trying to prove herself to the gods in order to enter Valhalla.
To do so, she’ll have to slay several powerful giants, in boss fights that look like an isometric take on the spectacular encounters found in Shadow of the Colossus. The game world is randomly-generated, so exploring your environment to locate new runes and shrines to the gods is almost as important as whacking away at giants with your two-handed axe.
There’s no official release date for Jotun, but the game’s Beta is already live. It’s on course to drop before the end of the year.
