Shaq Fu was undoubtedly one of the most hyped and worst video games of all time, with nothing but a wonderfully silly and bizarre television ad to remember it by. Last year, an Indiegogo campaign was started to bring a reboot to the masses, and it got its coming out party at the Video Game Awards last night.
The new game embraces how dumb the entire concept of an NBA center with powerful martial arts can be and is just running with it. Shaquille O’Neal, for one, emotes a lot more in his new game than he ever did in the original game, Kazaam or Steel. The game also features some flashy 3D cel-animated artwork.
The game is being developed by Deez Productions, whose staff has worked on games like HALO, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Alan Wake, Spec Ops: The Line, Battlefield, Killzone, Max Payne, and Duke Nukem. The gameplay is described as Devil May Cry mixed with a Shaquille flair.
The game is being released on PC and multiple platforms, and will be out in 2016. And just for fun, here’s that delightfully awful Shaq Fu commercial from the 90’s.
