Jagex has announced that its block-building team shooter Block N Load will move out of its current beta phase and release in full for PC this April 30.
In preparation for launch the game’s ongoing beta will switch from its current, always-on schedule to weekend stress and balance tests only. It’ll make that transition on March 9.
Jagex says the changeover will ”allow the development team to focus on fine-tuning the play experience in preparation of taking the game live.”
Block N Load plays a bit like Team Fortress crossed with Minecraft; choosing one of six classes, you’ll jump into 5v5 battles, first building your own base defences and then attempting to destroy the enemy’s. The game’s building mechanic allows for some creative strategy - you could, for example, dig right under the enemy base and emerge from below, or sneakily build a bridge across a canyon to bypass enemy turrets.
GameWatcher recently took on Jagex themselves in a Block N Load battle to the death. We were thoroughly humiliated, and you can catch the whole sorry mess on our Youtube channel.
You can pre-order Block N Load for a 33% discount on Steam now. Doing so will earn you a skin pack with an outfit for each character class.
