Muzzy Lane Software has announced that its World War One grand strategy title Making History: The Great War will launch on January 29, with a special launch event at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City on January 31.
Making History: The Great War lets you play as various leaders from WWI, changing the course of history for better or worse. Well, I guess you could hardly make it that much worse, could you?
“The history of World War I on its own presents an incredibly interesting theme for a game like Making History,” says the game’s designer Ralph Gerth, “ It’s so much more diverse than trenches, gas attacks and the Western Front. These were vast empires engaged in a global struggle with historic consequences that persist today.”
Making History is grand strategy with the emphasis firmly on the grand, its closest cousin probably Paradox’s WW2 Hearts of Iron series. Unlike those games, Making History is turn-based, but offers the same tactical freedom and expansive playground to operate in. It’s like the biggest game of Risk you’ve ever seen, essentially.
Making History: The Great War is currently available on Steam in Early Access form. The latest update dropped at the end of December, adding various UI and AI fixes and new events to play through.
