Overwatch has offered what looks and promises to be the premiere first-person character-based arena experience in 2016. In a move that might delight potential buyers and players, it has been announced that forseeable post-launch content for Overwatch will be free.
Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan announced this sweet bit of news in a developer update video via the official Overwatch Youtube channel. Though no additional maps or heroes are set in stone at this time, Kaplan announced that there are plans and ideas for future content and boldly stated that players will not have to fear microtransactions or money gouging on the integral game changes that additional heroes and maps would provide. Kaplan stated that the plan instead would simply be to patch that kind of new content into the game for free.
In an industry where microtransactions and paid DLC is rampant and endless, this is welcome news to the continuing hype of Overwatch. In addition, Kaplan announced a lot of new plans for making Overwatch a more enjoyable game such as a volume slider, kill feed, score screens, and overall adjustments for balance and playability.
Overwatch is slated for release in Spring of 2016 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. You can pre-order the game on the official page at Battle.net
