Double Fine has revealed that Day of the Tentacle Remastered will be released in March 2016, for PC, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
Tim Schafer’s classic point and click game, Day of the Tentacle, originally released in 1993 to critical acclaim. Along side Beneath a Steel Sky and Broken Sword, for me personally, Day of the Tentacle is one of the best point and click games ever made. That’s why it’s exciting to hear that the Remastered version will feature new hand-drawn artwork and audio, with options to switch between the “classic” and “remastered” versions of the game.
Day of the Tentacle sees players enter a time-travelling adventure to stop a Purple Tentacle - a mutant monster created by mad scientist Dr. Fred Edison – who drinks toxic sludge from a river and becomes hell-bent on global domination. It’s up to our three main protagonists to save the day; nerd Bernard Bernoulli, medical student Laverne and roadie Hoagie.
Double Fine has released a gameplay trailer to show the new visuals, which you can see below;
