Petroglyph’s old-school RTS Grey Goo is getting a new slice of DLC this week, adding three post-campaign missions, the game’s first Hero-tier unit, and brand new CGI cinematics.
In even better news, owners of the game have a day to snap up the new Emergence Campaign pack for free. The offer ends at 9am PT on June 11, at which point it will set you back $7.99.
For that price you’ll net the new missions and Hero unit (Singleton, an important figure from the main campaign), but there’s a bunch of other new modes, tweaks and fixes for the game’s multiplayer that are available in a free patch to coincide with the DLC’s release.
Newly added are a spectator mode, a replay mode, a terrain editor, and dedicated servers. All nice additions, but for a game that promises a strong multiplayer suite, I’d say it’s the servers that will make the biggest difference. Here’s some more information on the new modes:
[br]
Observer Mode: Get a front-row seat to a friend’s match, or find a tournament and watch opposing forces collide. Keep track of troop movement, resources, unit counts and fog of war in real time.
Replay Mode: Sharpen your knowledge of command. Relive the glory of victory or analyze a crushing defeat with detailed information about each match.
Terrain Editor: Create your own battlefields. The terrain editor puts all the building blocks of Ecosystem Nine at your fingertips—and even enables you to import your own content.
Dedicated Servers: Experience higher performance and a better matchmaking process in multiplayer mode.
