The Ship: Murder Party was released back in 2006 and was set aboard 1020’s cruise ships with a ‘hunt or be hunted’ twist. Players had to kill their assigned quarry whilst trying to avoid their own assassin.
Now Scottish indie Blazing Griffin is re-releasing the original as The Ship: HD early next year, and they’ve been joined the 2006 game’s lead programmer, now technical director at the studio.
”“I loved making The Ship game the first time round, it was some of the best times I’ve had in the industry. I’m really excited to have the opportunity to work on the HD version of The Ship with a different bunch of awesomely talented folks. It’s a second chance at unfinished business.”
Rights to The Ship IP were acquired in 2011 by Blazing Griffin who attempted a crowd-funded sequel called ‘Full Steam Ahead’. Sadly it didn’t happen and they couldn’t pursue it alone, but now the small developer is ready to tackle the franchise.
The Ship: HD releases on PC in early 2016.
