The Evil Within’s final piece of downloadable content will ditch limited ammo reserves and forced stealth sections, in favour of letting you run around as a great, big madman with a metal box on his head.
Said bad guy is The Keeper, the monstrosity (or ONE of the monstrosities) that chases you throughout the core game. Titled The Executioner, the DLC is coming later this month.
It’s also a first-person experience, oddly enough;
“In the final DLC for The Evil Within’s DLC, open the safe door and see the action through the eyes (???) of the menacing Keeper,” Bethesda teases. “Experience his power and brutality in first person as you square off against most iconic adversaries of The Evil Within.”
The trailer above doesn’t reveal too much, except that there will be a lot of gore, but then you knew that already. Bodies are pulped in spike traps, heads meet chainsaws, all that good stuff. From Bethesda’s description the DLC sounds like less a new piece of story content than a kind of violent arena mode, which might be a nice change of pace for players sick of crouching, terrified in the dark with nothing but a couple of matches and some slowly dampening trousers.
The Executioner drops on May 26. It’ll be available separately, or as part of the game’s Season Pass.
