Publisher Bandai Namco has pulled the plug on free-to-play fighting game Rise of Incarnates, just three months after it launched in early July.
The announcement was made on Steam, though no reason was given for the cancellation. Servers will stay open until December 15, but from today you won’t be able to purchase any in-game currency, if for some reason you were thinking of doing that.
”As noted above, now that “RISE OF INCARNATES” is coming to an end, starting on October 14, 2015, all characters will be free to play until service concludes,” writes Bandai Namco.
”Across The Board Price Reduction On All Items (Including Some Going Free)
With “RISE OF INCARNATES” coming to an end, starting on October 14, 2015, all customize items, boost items, and other such paid items will be reduced in price, with some going down to free, until service concludes.”
That’s one quick turnaround. Never exactly nice to see a game crash so spectacularly, but other than the sheer speed of the cancellation, it doesn’t come as a massive surprise. In a year of really massive titles, Rise of Incarnates didn’t ever promise that much.
