Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty received a pretty positive reaction when it was released on PS4 last year, and now the remake of the classic (and infuriatingly difficult) 1997 platformer Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is coming to PC.
It will be available on Steam on February 25, and will ship with the various post-launch improvements and tweaks made to the PS4 version, including classic controls, achievements, cloud saves and online leaderboards.
It’s the quick-save added in the new version that will make the most difference, though. The first game was great for a lot of reasons, but the punishing difficulty was made a hundred times worse by the fact that messing up booted you right back to the start of the level. That might be an even more important upgrade than the fancy new 3D graphics.
Other than those changes the game once again tells the story of plucky mudukon Abe’s attempts to avoid becoming a Tasty Treat in Molluck the Glukkon’s meatpacking factory.
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will be available on Steam for $20 / £15 / €20, with a 10% pre-order discount. Developer Just Add Water will reveal more information on recommended specs and pre-order details soon.
