The DayZ development team has gone through a long and arduous process to bring the game to where it is now. Months upon years of tweaks and balances have turned a pretty popular mod into a full-on actual game. Today, Bohemia Interactive shared some plans the team intends to tackle for 2016 as they march towards the game’s exit from Early Access into full release.
Announced in a press release today, Bohemia Interactive started in thanking all of their fans for continued support and community feedback through the good and bad of the game’s developmental cycle. This led into a list of the subjects of interest the team intends to tackle in 2016 before the full 1.0 release of DayZ.
On the list of subjects to be tackled before release were the following items:
-
Steam Workshop support (Modding)
-
Barricading
-
Aerial Vehicles
-
New Renderer
-
New robust Animation System
-
Enhanced Audio System support
-
Predators
-
Finalized Chernarus +
-
Animal Companions
-
New more modern UI & Inventory
-
Public Server Binaries & Servlet/Database Release
-
New User Actions & Fluid movement within the game world
Some of the stuff is pretty self-explanatory, such as the additions of predators and flying vehicles, but the addition of a new user interface and inventory system leaves a lot to the imagination. Of course, the addition of Steam Workshop support is also a very welcome idea. Certainly one can imagine that the modding community has plenty to give to an open world game like DayZ. That said, Bohemia also stressed that these items are simply the most pressing issues of which the team intends to address as they come up on the release of the game.
There is still no confirmed release date for the final build of DayZ just yet, but certainly the team will have another big announcement alongside showing off what’s gone into the final build of the game soon enough.
