Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was a game that set the bar upon its arrival back in 1997 almost 20 years ago. In its time it was the benchmark of what a video game could do when pushed to its limit on the then-current technology. Night Dive Studios has been on a mission to bring Turok back for modern day audiences with an HD remaster of the game and today the studio offered a new trailer and a release date.
The new trailer shows off Turok running in the full splendor of which the game is capable. Everything is smooth and quick and enemies look rightfully monstrous even for such a dated game. It’s not an incredibly long trailer, but it certainly offers enough to show that Night Dive is more than on the right track with their project.
Night Dive has been busy in general with these revival projects. They’ve already made an Enhanced Edition of System Shock and confirmed that they were also working on a total remake of the game, along with creating an entirely new System Shock game with Otherside Entertainment. All these plans and more as they’ve expressed a desire to remaster Turok 2 following the HD remaster of the first one.
The Turok HD remaster is slated for release on December 17 in only a few days via Steam, GOG.com, and Humble Bundle.
