Reloaded Games, the company which owns APB Reloaded, has gone and splashed out some cash to obtain Hawken, the free-to-play mech battler.
The news was announced by Joshua Clausen, producer at Reloaded Games, on Facebook yesterday afternoon.
More than a little enthusiastic about the purchase, Clausen was keen to let folks know that he intends to see the game succeed under its new management:
“I’m pretty excited to now be able to announce that Reloaded Games is the new owner of Hawken. It’s a seriously great honour to be a part of the Hawken story, and I want to see it thrive.”
The timing of Hawken’s acquisition comes after months of silence, whereupon the last Steam update for the game took place over half a year ago back in July 2014.
Originally announced way back in 2011, Hawken’s development continued right up through February 2014 where it debuted as a Steam Early Access title.
While Clausen and company are certainly quite pleased with their newest acquisition, some fans seem less than enthralled with their new Hawken overlords.
Indeed, a post on the Hawken sub-reddit by a veteran APB Reloaded player who goes by the name ‘Noviinha’, served as a warning to people who assume that Hawken’s fortunes will now miraculously.
“This acquisition is a both a blessing and a curse, similarities can be drawn between this acquisition and that of APB. Yes, you’ll able to enjoy your game for a little longer, but it will all go down hill afterwards.” Noviinha states.
Time will tell on this one folks.
