Elite Dangerous: Horizons has been in and out the news for some time now as Frontier Developments has prepared for its big 2016 push into expanding the space simulator game. Today we get the first portion of the Horizons in the form of the ‘Planetary Landings’ DLC and there’s a trailer to celebrate the release.
The beta for Planetary Landings wasn’t that long ago, giving players their first shot at taking vehicles down to planet services in search of resources in the Scarab SRV. Right now, the rocky surface you’ll see in the trailer are available, but Frontier Developments has laid out plans to include earth-like worlds in future updates.
The Elite Dangerous: Horizons expansion comes as a series of DLC that will be releasing over the better part of 2016. Players who already own Elite Dangerous will be able to get the expansion £30/$45. For those that don’t own the original game, geting Elite Dangerous and Horizons as a set will go for £40/$60. Players who own Elite Dangerous, but not Horizons will still be able to play with their friends, though not in any of the DLC content.
No word on time tables for the rest of the expansion, but we’re sure to expect something early in 2016 as Horizons continues to roll out. In the meantime, we’ve got some planets to explore.
