Ironward has released a big new content update for its action-RTS hybrid The Red Solstice, adding a new game mode, multiplayer bots and a medal upgrade system.
Point Capture is apparently a response to fan requests for shorter, punchier game modes, an eight player capture-and-defend challenge for up to eight players.
“Team up with up to eight players to seize control of increasingly difficult capture points, and try to survive as you’re faced with a growing onslaught of alien foes. Succeed and gain powerful buffs, new supplies and more reinforcements. Fail and… well… die,” writes the developer.
If you manage to survive you can earn one of a number of new medals for your troopers, which will improve your team’s stats and abilities. Ironward warns that some of the medals are “hard to earn”, and will take some time and effort to unlock.
Finally, to round out your team you can now add in some multiplayer bots. Each player can control up to three of these NPCs, and you can switch over to control them manually at any time. Head here to check out the full patch notes.
