Incandescent Imaging, otherwise known as Australian solo developer Dylan Browne, has released a free demo for his indie horror title Caffeine, which is set on a seemingly abandoned mining ship.
Of course, it’s not really going to be abandoned, is it? The fact that the game’s inspired by first-person horror games like Condemned, FEAR and Outlast should clue you in to that. This demo was first shown off at AVCon 2015.
“As this is a convention build it was designed as a short contained demo to give players a taste of the atmosphere of Caffeine,” writes Browne, “this includes some awesome new sound design by Jonathan Wachoru and music from Bay Drive Sound’s Adam Klingman. The demo is targeted at 1080p 30fps for demo purposes, you can change this in the settings menu.”
Caffeine is set in a far future in which the entire human race is addicted to caffeine, and corporations build giant mining ships to send out into the galaxy in search of minerals needed to synthesise it. So there’s every possibility that it’s not actually a monster chasing you, you’re just tweaking after your 3,000th espresso of the day.
Caffeine is set to launch on the PC later this year. You can find out more about the game on the Indie DB.
