Crypt of the Necrodancer has just received what developer Brace Yourself Games calls its “biggest update ever” on Steam, adding new boss battles and characters.
In fact, new boss Coral Riff (get it?) is actually pretty cool, an entire nautical ensemble complete with trumpets and drum kits that you’ll have to defeat.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the concept, Necrodancer has you clearing a 16-bit dungeon free of various monsters and bad guys. One catch though; you’re dancing, not sword-fighting. Yep, you have to moonwalk and boogie back and forth in time to the soundtrack to defeat your foes.
Which is why battling an undersea orchestra isn’t quite as ridiculous as it initially seems. Well, okay it is, but it at least makes sense in the context of the game. New characters Melody and Dorian add new skills and starting gear, and new NPCs like the pawnbroker offer new services.
