Funcom is a developer probably best known for its MMO work - including Age of Conan, The Secret World and Anarchy Online - but the studio is returning to singleplayer for its next project, horror game The Park.
The first teaser video was released today, and it seems to be doing its level best to put people off amusements parks for life. Here’s the plot synopsis:
”Amusement parks are happy places, filled with the innocent joys of childhood and the exhilarating rush of hair-raising, but safe adventure. Balloons, cotton candy and fantastic rides to be dared. Perhaps that is how Lorraine pictured it too when she brought her son Callum to one… just before it descended into the most terrifying nightmare of her life.”
”The Park is a single-player horror experience developed by Funcom, set against the backdrop of an amusement park where a dark and sinister secret is just waiting to be uncovered.”
Sounds interesting, though exactly how the game plays out isn’t revealed. The official website noted in the video description doesn’t appear to be live yet. Still, the game’s set for release this October, so I’d expect Funcom to show off some more of it soon.
