EUIV is a more complex, expansive cousin to Crusader Kings 2, with a focus on international rather than personal politics. It’s a huge, grinding beast of a game, but once you’ve got a handle on some of its core mechanics, which aren’t quite as complicated as they initially seem, there’s some great experiences to be had.
Incidentally, the game’s latest DLC expansion El Dorado launched yesterday, alongside a free update carrying some fixes and alterations. We’re currently digging into the new expansion, so expect a review soon.
