Diablo-style hack-and-slash RPG Grim Dawn has gotten a major update which adds the first part to the long-awaited Act 4 as well as a new Devotion system. The Steam Early Access game update also adds a new boss fight and a new level cap of 60.
According to developer Crate Entertainment, the Devotion mechanic allows players to customize their skills. ”Devotion points are earned by restoring broken or corrupted shrines found throughout the world and then spent among a giant sky map of constellations,” explains the studio. ”Each constellation has its own lore, adding to the flavor of the world, stat bonuses on each star and the potential to unlock Celestial Powers, which are attached to your class skills and triggered in different ways.” 5 different affinities offer access to higher tier constellations: Chaos, Order, Eldritch, Primordial and Ascendant.
The update unlocks the area beyond the Darkvale Gates, allowing players to explore the Black Legion stronghold of Fort Ikon and the wilderness around it. ”The remainder of Act 4, which will take you into Necropolis and then down into the final dungeon, is virtually complete and just awaiting polish work and animation of the final boss. It should roll out near the end of the year,” promises the developer.
The patch also brings numerous class and item tweaks, as well as gameplay adjustments. The full, massive patch list can be found on the official forum here.
