Flight sim developer Just Flight has left publisher Mastertronic, the studio’s publishing director Alex Ford has revealed. The company now has the backing of an unnamed investor. This follows news that the studio was going into administration.
In an interview, Ford stated, “Becoming part of a bigger group after eight years was the right thing to do in 2005 and now, ten years later, regaining our independence is also the right move.”
Just Flight is best known for the numerous add-ons and downloadable content for major flight simulations like Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, IL-2 Sturmovik and Combat Flight Sim. The studio also spun off as Just Trains, providing content for Train Simulator as well.
Going into administration is an alternative for companies who do not wish to liquidate their assets. Just Flight is not out of the woods just yet, as it remains to be seen what plans the investors have for Just Flight. As of now, content is still available for purchase on the studio’s website.
Stay tuned.
