The open beta for Battlefield 1 started yesterday, although unfortunately it’s been stung with server outages, which appears to have been caused by a hacker group called PoodleCorp who launched a DDoS attack sometime last night.
Thousands of users were trying to head online to play the open beta, so many originally thought it was because EA’s Origin servers were overloaded and couldn’t cope – In fairness to them FIFA 16’s servers were down too – although PoodleCorp quickly came on Twitter to claim responsibility.
We are responsible for the downtime of @EA & @Battlefield #PoodleCorp

Currently the servers are still down, although some users have reported that they’ve been able to get online and play. EA’s acknowledged the issues, but it hasn’t confirmed the source of the problem yet, so hopefully all will be well and working again tonight.
