Have you played Beneath a Steel Sky? You should! Not only is it a terrific adventure game, it’s been absolutely free for years. It also sounds like Revolution Software might just be working on a sequel.
In an interview with Daily Star Online, Revolution Software founder Charles Cecil talked about the company’s upcoming 25th Anniversary box set, which will feature their complete catalog, including Beneath a Steel Sky , In Cold Blood, Lure of the Temptress and the whole Broken Sword series. In the process of getting the band back together for a documentary on the company’s history, talk started happening of bringing back an old favorite.
Dave Gibbons, the artist responsible for the original Beneath a Steel Sky (and the legendary graphic novel Watchmen), himself broached the topic of a sequel. It’s very much in the talking stages at this point, but hey. Talking eventually leads to action, right?
Other potential options for the studio’s next game include a sixth Broken Sword or a brand-new, original game. The latter would be Revolution’s first non-sequel in over 15 years. These are all best considered rumors at this point, but they’re at least rumors from the company’s founder.
Plus that box set looks pretty cool. More studios should treat their catalog with this degree of respect.
