No one can say she didn’t have it coming, but since the beta, players have complained that Rose - the new support class for the Plants faction in Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 - was too overpowered. A few days after the game’s official launch, Popcap Games has confirmed she’ll be getting nerfed in the game’s first update.
According to creative director Justin Wiebe, Rose was intended as a support class and not a real offensive threat. ”This fix is going to be implemented very soon and we thank you for your patience and incredible support while we get it ready. Keep your eyes peeled here and on our Twitter channels for an update on when the fix will be implemented,” said Wiebe.
Of course, most of the “support classes” in Garden Warfare have been offensive threats. The Sunflower and the Scientist both have their own deadly capability. Rose owns the ability to slow time for a group of zombies, turn zombies into goats temporarily, and her Arcane Enigma does some area of effect damage. However, her primary attack, the ranged Thistle, may pack too much punch.
It’s tricky to nerf a support class, though, especially in this series. As mentioned, support classes have to be able to have some level of offence, especially in single player mode while roaming the map.
Wiebe also teased the first upcoming free content for the game - the Graveyard Variety Pack - by showing a screenshot of the Suburbia map, as seen above.
