It’s been a very long time in coming, but the first original expansion for 1998’s seminal roleplaying game Baldur’s Gate, Siege of Dragonspear, is now available for purchase from Beamdog, Steam and Good Old Games. Baldur’s Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast was released back in 1999.
The expansion includes new items, quests, and a new class, the shaman. Players can import characters from Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition into the expansion and export them to Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition as well.
Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear takes place after Sarevok has been dealt with. A new threat has appeared in the north in the form of The Shining Lady, a mysterious woman leading an crusader army that has been forcibly conscripting citizens into service and confiscating supplies. ”The closer you get to the Shining Lady, the more you realize your father, the dead Lord of Murder still casts a long shadow upon your path. Baldur’s Gate has put its faith in you, but you must determine whose interests you truly serve before you face the Shining Lady among the ruins of Dragonspear Castle…”
The expansion comes in several flavors. The expansion alone costs $19.99/£14.99. but players can opt for the Digital Deluxe version for $39.97 that includes the full soundtracks of the original Baldur’s Gate, Enhanced Edition and the Siege of Dragonspear expansion.
