Dead Age, the zombie apocalypse survival RPG has launched its final version on Steam today after being in development on Steam’s early access program. The game features ‘final fantasy’ style turn based combat with survival and resource management elements.
The game has launched on the back of a very positive rating on the steam reviews section. The game has been praised for its used of tactical turn based combat, permadeath, difficulty, and progression. The mechanics of the game have been expanded upon over the course of the early access period and received regular content updates.
The blend of genres seems to have resonated with players. The game contains both a resource management system, RPG character progression and a crafting system so you can improve the equipment of your survivors. Characters each have various skills and abilities both inside and outside of combat.
Skills outside of combat can be increased so characters can become proficient at crafting certain items, an example is that a character can train to be a gunsmith, which will enable them to improve weapons and craft ammo from resources. Characters can also be equipped with various crafted and looted equipment.
The game’s story is also been pointed out as a positive note, alongside the main story, players will encounter various in-game events that will have choice and consequences. These choices can have great rewards or could risk the death of a group member. Weighing the potential risk of going after those extra supplies needs careful consideration. Dead Age is available now on Steam.
