Atlas Reactor is switching from a free-to-play model to a buy-to-play model (otherwise known as the usual way games are sold).
Atlas Reactor is still in its closed beta phase, but developers Trion Worlds have decided their game would best be suited to a buy-to-play model. Now future owners of the game will obtain all current and future Freelancers (the characters in Atlas Reactor).
This change in pricing model also alters the pricing of cosmetic features like taunts and styles. Cosmetic features will now be cheaper, and some of them will also be obtainable through gameplay. The Seasons system will also be seeing some tweaks, including better achievable rewards, again through gameplay.
Those who have supported Atlas Reactor by purchasing in game content will be pleased to know that you have not been forgotten. Trion Worlds have announced anyone who has purchased $10 or more of in-game credits, or if you’ve your bought any of the Founder’s packs will now own the game. You won’t have to spend any money as you’ve shown your support already.
The developers have priced the game at £22.99. This gives players full access to the game as well as giving the developers significantly more income to focus on other aspects of the game (aspects that aren’t directly linked to the store mechanics). Right now, the Atlas Pack will be discounted to £15.49 for a short amount of time.
There will be opportunities to try the game through the use of free weekends, trials, friend referrals and an Open Beta which will be out soon. The next free weekend takes place on the weekend of May 13th – 15th.
