In the wise old words of a certain legendary developer 'A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad'. Whether or not that's always the case is one of gaming's great debates. But with Syberia 3 being delayed into 2017, we could soon have another strong case for either side.
At one point penciled in for a 2014 launch, Kate Walker's newest adventure was announced 4 years ago. With Microïds vice president Elliot Grassiano stating how he's "obviously disappointed that Syberia 3 is delayed" the developer is also "relieved that Microïds has taken the decision to postpone the game's launch because it is essential to offer players the best gaming experience possible".
Reasons for the delay include requiring additional time to flesh out the title more than their original scope intended. Obviously proud of their narrative so far, Microids have taken Syberia 3 back into active development to throw in additional cinematics, bilingual voice-overs and a few more optional story sequences.
With a soundtrack headed by Inon Zur of Dragon Age and Fallout 4 fame, we can only hope the new Q1 2017 date works out this time around.
The title is still available for pre-purchase through Steam.Though it hasn't yet updated with the new release date.
