Remaining adamant on their plans to keep Battleborn a pay-to-play FPS experience, Gearbox isn't slowing down with thier dreams. There's big changes coming real soon.
With full details being withheld until a special livestream tomorrow at around 2PM PT/5PM ET, there's apparently more left to show despite today's info release being rather big itself.
While it makes sense for F2P titles to lock specific characters behind certain gates and walls, it doesn't feel quite right making players wait until they gain access to content they've originally paid for. Sure, there's plenty of exceptions here. Character unlocks offered challenges in anything from brawlers to kart racers, but Battleborn will soon go the Overwatch route and unlock every playable character the moment you fire it up.
Those still playing are quite passionate about Battleborn. They even hosted a Battleborn Day to bring in fresh meat.
There's a few changes coming to the pacing of the game's story mode that should reward newcomers with an increased rate on loot packs early on. And if that newly unlocked 25-man roster is too much to handle, they're setting up a dojo to take each one for a test drive. They're even bringing in a Draft mode to the competitive online experience and throwing in Daily Quests for good measure.
With Battleborn struggling to make it into Steam's Top 100 lists and barely scratching double-digit player numbers on the platform, it's difficult to imagine things picking up the future. But those who decided to give it a shot at the same time as the Overwatch release, they seemed to get along just fine.
