Ubisoft's presence at the Electronic Entertainment Expo - or, E3 - lately has been a sure-fire recipe for success for the company. Closing a show with the swift revel of Steep one year and Ghost Recon: Wildlands in another, their ambition is grand. With Steep already released, we turn our heads to the next bombshell reveal that was Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Beta sign-ups are live.
Though Ghost Recon: Wildlands debuted far earlier than Steep, it still haven't made it out of development just yet. Being built around the same idea of a persistent open-world online game, they're not all too far apart - except for it focusing on the extreme sport of being a gun-totting mercenary.
With beta sign-ups finally open, we know we're inching closer to the proposed March release date plastered across posters around the Gamescom and, presumably, PAX showfloor earlier this year. Let's just pray for no major delays.
While there's a new trailer for us today, there's a lengthy gameplay video over here.
But the beta test period as a whole will likely be the most we've seen of the game yet. Its reveal didn't come with any sort of playable demo build for attendees of its chosen event, and even Gamescom just a few months ago had the title locked behind a developer-handled live gameplay presentation. There was no hands-on time at all.
So if you're hoping to see what this mission-based, open-world, co-op shooter is all about, you better hope you make it into the beta test. We hardly know what we're getting ourselves into, but it wowed us one, so hopefully it can do it again. At least there's a new trailer.
