Outside of Hideo Kojima, there are few Japanese developers–heck, few developers worldwide–that can match Goichi Suda’s wild directorial style and unique game designs. Better known as Suda51, his titles, like No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Killer7, aren’t always great, but they are always fascinating. Now one of his oldest games is getting remastered for PC.
The Silver Case released for the original PlayStation in 1999, and told the story of two detectives investigating a string of recent murders by a supposedly dead serial killer. The game never made it outside of Japan, making this upcoming release the first chance anyone has had to see the game in English.
The game combines visual novel and adventure game elements. You play from a first person perspective, investigating locations and talking to various characters while you solve puzzles and progress the overall story and solve the mystery of the titular Silver Case. The best part is that demo is available right now.
You can grab that demo on Steam. The final game doesn’t yet have a release date beyond Fall 2016, but as a fan of adventure games and crazy Japanese auteurs, I can’t wait to see it.
