If you're looking to fly far away from your Christmas duties over the weekend, Astroneer could be the answer.
We've touched on the picturesque space sim a little over the last few months, but the Early Access title finally has a release date - this Friday, December 16.
Sure, we already had a December placeholder to tide us over, but we didn't have a specific day to look forward to. And with more and more games reaching the end of their release year before being pushed back into the next, it's nice to have the reassurance that Astroneer will make it's promised month.

The co-op survival sandbox sim contains just enough artistic use of low and high polygon counts to stay looking as beautiful as ever. So when it comes to building a space bugger in a similar way to a lego car and riding around the terraformed caves of a lonely planet, you know you'll have a lot of sights to take in along the way. And once you've seen everything there is to see, it's time to hop on over to the next planet.
It's a close call, but maybe you'll still be able to cancel those weekend plans down at the bar. You don't need that place. You need space.
