We’ve had a run of space-based strategy these past few months. Polaris Sector is out, Ashes of the Singularity finally released, we got a new Homeworld game, and Stellaris is on the way next month. In the midst of this space rush, Starpoint Gemini Warlords has hit Steam Early access.
According to the developers, “the game introduces many sought after new features including the player headquarters, a giant space station, for storing the fleet and building new ships. As development of the game progresses, research can be conducted there on weapons, ships, structures and new HQ modules.” It will also feature a massive galaxy nearly ten times bigger than that of Starpoint Gemini 2.
The game features both a campaign mode that picks up from the events of the previous game, and a conquest mode which allows you to freely explore the galaxy at your own pace. This Early Access version includes only the story mode’s prologue, with most of its content in freeroam. The game currently features one of its eventual four character classes, and roughly half of the final planned features.
