One of the most fun surprises of E3 2015 was the announcement and release of Fallout Shelter during the Bethesda press conference. The vault-building sim proved a perfect distraction on smartphones, and there was a long-standing hint of it arriving on PC. Well, today is the day that the mobile game comes to computers.
The game has you in charge of a Vault-Tec vault, building new rooms underground as you try to entice new dwellers to move in, staff more rooms, and expand the Vault even further. Rooms will produce resources to keep the base operational and fund further construction, but you’ll have to contend with raider attacks and mutant infestations to keep the Vault secure.

It was a mobile game, so system requirements aren’t exactly stringent, but here they are anyway:
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @2.83GHz
- RAM: 2 GB
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1GHz or Radeon HD 6970 1 GHz
- Disk space: 2 GB
Fallout Shelter isn’t especially deep or complex, but it is a fun addition to the Fallout universe. It’s free, but to play it you’ll need to download the Bethesda launcher and create an account.
