Not everyone was satisfied with EA Dice’s attempt to reboot the Star Wars: Battlefront series, so a group of fan developers have taken it upon themselves to work on their own take of a Battlefront game with Star Wars: Galaxy In Turmoil. The main ModDB page states, ”Star Wars: Galaxy in Turmoil is a project by Frontwire Studios that plans to re-create what Battlefront III was meant to be.”
The latest build is now available on ModDB for free here. It is a little bare-bones, but features:
- Main Menu – Map Selector – Class Selector – First Person
- Maps: Test Room,Hoth,Tatooine,Space-to-Ground Test Map
- Flyable: X-Wing,Y-Wing
- Weapons: DC-15S Blaster Rifle,Republic Grenade Launcher,Republic Missile Launcher,Z6 Rotary Blaster Cannon,A280C Blaster Rifle
Star Wars: Battlefront earned mildly positive reviews, including a 7.5/10 score from GameWatcher, but longtime fans of the series complained that the game was aimed too much on the casual gamer, with shallow gameplay and a lack of content.
Despite the game being free and in its very early stages, we’ll see if Electronic Arts or Disney slap a cease-and-desist on the project. Stay tuned.
