Bioware’s choice to take the Star Wars RPG online stung for Knights of the Old Republic fans, even with the MMO’s focus on cinematic storytelling. It sounds like the recent expansion, Knights of the Fallen Empire, was a solid piece of content for those craving a solo story experience, and the next chapter in that story is coming soon.
Titled Knights of the Eternal Throne, the expansion will further deliver on the game’s storytelling focus. Aside from the teaser image above, that’s pretty much all we know. Knights of the Eternal Throne was well-received, and if you’re curious you can hop into the game, get an instant level 60 character, and check out the first chapter of the story for free.

The release of Knights of the Eternal Throne will roughly coincide with the Old Republic’s five-year anniversary. James Ohlen, director of design, said “From those of us here at BioWare, we want to say “thank you”. We are humbled by your loyalty and support over these past five years. We thank you for being here from the beginning and sharing your saga with us… for joining us at Cantina events worldwide over the years and for bringing our dream to life.”
Despite a launch that didn’t justify the game’s monumental budget, the Old Republic seems to have been a solid but quiet success since going free-to-play in 2012.
