We’ve been seeing occasional details on Scalebound, the new dragons and headphones game from the folks at Platinum, but it still doesn’t feel like we really know what form the game will take, beyond its focus on Devil May Cry-like stylish combat. Thankfully, today we got a little taste of what partnering with dragons will be like.
Thuban is the draconic compatriot of protagonist Drew, and he can take on the aspect of three entirely different dragon types. The Rex, Tank, and Wyvern are all core types you can choose between, but you can also morph and evolve both Thuban’s visual appearance and attributes between the three.
We’re already looking forward to titles hitting in 2017. Check out our list of upcoming PC games!
Dragon parts will alter the appearance of your mount while adding permanent buffs to Thuban’s offensive capabilities. He can also be equipped with human-crafted armor bought with currency earned by defeating enemies and completing quests. A maintenance system will require you to keep your armor in good repair throughout the game.
It’s good to finally see a bit more of what Scalebound will actually consist of, beyond Platinum’s trademark stylish action. Scalebound will release in 2017 for Xbox One and PC.
